The FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025™ was the largest sporting event Chile has hosted in years: 52 matches, 4 stadiums, 4 cities, over 600,000 attendees. Ticketplus managed the full ticketing operation — from online sales to access control at every venue.

The Challenge: National Scale, FIFA Standards

Ticketing a World Cup isn’t “selling tickets.” It’s coordinating technology infrastructure across multiple cities simultaneously, ensuring every ticket is valid, unique, and non-transferable, and guaranteeing that thousands of people can enter a stadium in minutes — without lines, failures, or incidents.

The specific requirements for this tournament:

  • Simultaneous multi-city operation. Santiago, Valparaíso, La Serena, and Antofagasta — each with its own stadium staff, scanning hardware, and internet connectivity. All synchronized with a central system.
  • FIFA anti-fraud protocols. Ticket format and validation requirements meeting FIFA’s international technical standards.
  • High-demand on-sales. Group stage ticket releases triggered massive concurrent demand spikes requiring virtual waiting room infrastructure.
  • Accessibility requirements. Specific quotas and processes for reduced mobility access, managed through the same ticketing flow.
  • Zero tolerance for overselling. A sold-out stadium means exactly sold out — not sold out plus the organizer’s complimentary list plus press credentials plus sponsor allocations. All managed from a unified inventory.

How It Worked: The Full Operation

Online sales. All tickets were sold through a dedicated tournament page powered by Ticketplus, with support for multiple payment methods and full Spanish/English localization.

Capacity management. Each stadium’s seating map was loaded into the platform, with sections designated for different buyer categories — general public, sponsors, media, VIP, and accessibility.

Access control. Ticketplus deployed mobile scanning teams at all four stadiums. Each gate used the platform’s app to validate QR codes in real time, with offline fallback for connectivity issues.

Coordination with FIFA and ANFP. The platform operated within FIFA’s technical framework while integrating with local organizer requirements from the ANFP (Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional).

Results

  • 600,000+ attendees processed across the full tournament
  • 52 matches across 4 cities with zero reported ticketing incidents
  • Multiple sold-out matches including the final and key knockout stage games
  • Real-time reporting for organizers at every stage of the tournament

What This Proves for Event Organizers

The Copa Mundial Sub-20 is a proof point for what Ticketplus can do at scale. But the same infrastructure that powered a FIFA tournament is what’s available to every organizer on the platform.

You don’t need to be organizing a World Cup to benefit from:

  • Multi-venue coordination from a single dashboard
  • High-demand on-sale infrastructure with queue management
  • Real-time access control with fraud prevention
  • Complete sales and attendance reporting
